Following the success of GIBTM 2012 we reflect on a busy and successful show in Abu Dhabi.
This year, we launched a number of exciting initiatives at the show, such as the Business Travel focused educational sessions with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), the first-ever Arabic educational seminar and a cutting-edge Technology Zone, to name a few. We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from exhibitors, visitors and hosted buyers, which makes us confident that we are on the right track.
I am extremely happy to see by the high attendance at the educational sessions, which proves the rising interest in the development of the meetings industry in the region. Every year, we aim to have highly qualified regional and international speakers who hold innovative and insightful sessions in order to stay at the pulse of the industry.
After speaking to participants of the show I have been told by many that besides business and networking opportunities, people found immense value in the educational sessions. Exhibitors and visitors have been able to take away insight and information that will help enhance their businesses. We, as exhibition organisers, must encourage education and research at tradeshows to grow the industry.
In fact, many trade visitors reported that one of the main reasons that they attend trade shows is to gain professional development, learn about the industry and get insight on the trends in order to be on top of their field and stay relevant. Trade shows are increasingly becoming a platform for industry engagement, where communities discuss challenges, debate and learn. Education seminars provide attendees with the knowledge to stay competitive and put them ahead of the pack.
I am very happy to hear that exhibitors, buyers and visitors found participating in GIBTM valuable for the development of their business – that’s what the show is all about.
