AIME 2012 wraps up

As AIME 2012 wraps up and with so many people flying huge distances to Melbourne, Australia to attend, I often get to this point in the show and wonder whether people’s expectations have been met.

As stands are packed up and buyers tote their bags of brochures from the show floor, we can usually start to gauge the response to the show from the feedback that starts to trickle in. And this year already, it has been overwhelmingly positive.

AIME is blessed to be in a great location at a wonderful time of the year – Melbourne is stunning in February and it is great to come to a destination that really goes the extra mile.  You can’t underestimate the power of creating the right atmosphere even before the start of an event.  AIME is all about networking and while the show officially runs on Tuesday and Wednesday, on the Monday, we had hilarious comedian and impersonator Ben Price entertaining at breakfast, Jessica Mauboy singing at lunch and an incredible Welcome Reception in the evening with over 2000 people.

A huge surge of optimism was created even before the event started and it really set the tone for the remaining two days. The event closed today and I am convinced that even though a lot of people flew a long way, they will return home thinking it was
A. worthwhile from a business perspective and

B. A good time.

At the end of the day this is what makes a sustainable event and I have no doubt AIME will last another 20 years or more.
